Titanfall 2 developers open to cross-play between Xbox and PlayStation

Seems like the cards against Sony are stacking up after the Titanfall 2 developer Respawn stated that they would be open to allowing cross-network play on Xbox One and other platforms. Microsoft made headlines earlier this year when they announced that they would open up their services to allow game developers the ability to allow gamers to play against each other regardless of their preferred platform.

We aren’t planning on doing that at launch. For now, the answer is no, but we aren’t closed to the possibility.

Rocket League developer Psyonix announced that they were a server update away from allowing it, but because Sony has casually ignored calls from developers to enable this, the feature has remained a pipe dream for gamers. Titanfall 2 joins a long list of games that would be open to allowing this, but with Sony not even responding to these requests, it seems like the dream of multiplatform play will remain just that.

Titanfall 2 is expected to launch on October 26 on Xbox One and other platforms, and will feature a full single-player campaign. You can join the Multiplayer Tech test this weekend by downloading the Titanfall Alpha from your platform’s store.
