The team behind the much loved VLC app have announced that the Windows 10 UWP version of popular entertainment application is finally available. The app was marred by development issues which were mostly limited due to the nature of the Windows UWP platform and its API’s. Since then, Microsoft launched the Windows 10 update, and with it improved the API’s and UWA platform to such an extent that developers will be able to do much more.
The application will support most of the file formats available on the standard desktop version, and can be used for Video and music playback. It will support FLAC and MKV (which is currently supported on the Media Player app on Xbox and Windows), and supports Subtitles.
The app is currently available on Windows 10, however, it’s not available on Windows Mobile 10 at present. The developer did announce that it will be coming to more platforms in the future, including Hololens
