With the results of the Global Game Awards in, some games more than others came home the big winners and Life is Strange is one of them.
The tale of Max and Chloe is an emotional experience rather than just a game that took the gaming world by storm when Episode 1 Chrysalis released back in January. Leading up to the final episode’s release in October, we saw Max Caulfield (voiced by Ms. Hannah Telle) on her emotional journey through Arcadia Bay, Oregon. Also nominated for many awards including Best Narrative and Games for Change in the upcoming The Game Awards next month, Life is Strange is one of the first games that shows you how to be a better human being and somehow is able to relate an 18 year old girl to anyone of any race or sex.
At this year’s Global Game Awards, Life is Strange took home to 1st place (Best Original Game, Best Adventure) and two 2nd place (Best Story, Game of the Year) awards and was the top winner of awards. The game only lost to The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt for Story and GOTY but beat out the likes of Fallout 4, GTA V, MGSV: The Phantom Pain, Pillars of Eternity and more for Best Original Game and Adventure.
There have been rumors that a second season of Life is Strange could be in the works and focus on a True Detective type format but DontNod hasn’t said anything concrete on it as of yet. Currently they are working on Vampyr, their open world vampire RPG which has a tentative 2017 release window currently. As soon as we hear more we’ll let you know, but in the meantime, check out the full list of award nominees and winners here.
While we all knew Witcher 3 would win a lot of awards, Life Is Strange is somewhat of a pleasant surprise. It’s great to see gamers appreciating a title like this. I hope we see many more entries in the franchise soon.
