It’s not every day that you get to experience the type of experience which will make you laugh in frustration. Unnamed Fiasco is a local multiplayer experience which centers around you and up to four friends taking on each other on the battlefield of Mexico, with music blaring in the background, and your past mistakes coming back to haunt you.
Xbox One isn’t new to this kind of experience, with #IDARB, and Cel Damage HD laying the groundwork for this kind of game. Unnamed Fiasco takes the local co-op multiplayer experience and adds a unique twist to it, that will be your best friend or your worst enemy. In the game, you start off with each player in each corner. As you play, you might kill one of the other players. However, this is where it becomes interesting. Your ‘soul’–also called clones in the game–will respawn where you once did and mimic your previous moves exactly. If your enemies come across the gunfire of the clone, they will be killed and you score.
However, the final result can be quite chaotic. One game I found almost 30 clones running around all firing at nothing. You and your friends will have to ensure that you get kills, all while dodging both your actual enemies and their clones.
The game offers several play styles and maps. Each map comes with several variations and it was quite surprised at the sheer number of options. Beyond that, they offer you timed challenges, pushing your problem-solving skills to the limit, all while making sure you pay attention to your surroundings. But this game is mainly geared towards you and a bunch of friends taking each other on in the Retirement Home map, trying to gain the highest score. There are several game modes as well, from Deathmatch to Capture the Flag; each with their own unique gameplay mechanics.
As for me, I enjoyed it very much, and my friends did too. We played for several hours and in my opinion this game is a must buy if you’re looking for a something you can play with family or friends. The game might not be as challenging as Overcooked, but it offers enough in content that makes it a must own for each gamer on Xbox One, at least.
Summary
Unnamed Fiasco takes the frantic nature of local co-op games and turns it into something fun. The game offers you more than enough play styles, modes, and character choices; not to mention the many single player challenges that are awaiting your high score. Unnamed Fiasco is a must own for each gamer, who enjoys local multiplayer games and will take you back to the good old days when you and your friends took on each other’s high scores in the arcade.
