Although it got off to a bad start when it first launched, Rise of the Tomb Raider is now picking up the pace in terms of sales. During Christmas week the game jumped to become the best selling digital game on the Xbox One marketplace, just beating Star Wars: Battlefront, which has likely sold well this week due to the popularity of The Force Awakens film, and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, as players scramble to claim the entire Gears of War series through the backwards compatibility promotion.
Microsoft’s holiday sale has probably also helped Tomb Raider to place so high on the list, as $40 for a fairly new game is a pretty nice deal if you ask me. If you’re interested in purchasing Rise of the Tomb Raider for this price, head on over to the Xbox store soon, as the deal will expire this Tuesday while new ones come to take its place.
It was worrisome to see Tomb Raider sell so poorly compared to its November 10th launch day competitor, Fallout 4, as both games are stellar, but it is exciting to see that sales are improving now, a bit later. As long as there are no major financial difficulties, Rise of the Tomb Raider certainly indicates that a third entry in the Tomb Raider series will come to be, and I can’t wait to play it.
