It looks like some significant changes are coming to the Xbox One user interface according to Windows Central. Today, Windows Central talked to a trusted source at Microsoft and said that the quick-access guide which pops up on the left side of the screen will be replaced with something better and faster. I wouldn’t find that because it would have more functionality like showing which apps were recently used and much more. It seems like this redesign will be quite a significant one.
Continuing, Windows Central said that Snap Mode will become less intrusive and will be more like a picture-in-picture mode where Skype conversations and others are shown in a little window which can be possibly adjusted instead of taking up 25% of your screen. This has to be my most-anticipated change by far. Snap Mode is great but it’s too intrusive.
Lastly, the interface will be thoroughly optimized for Xbox Scorpio so that the speed is fast and fluid when the console launches next year. I’m glad they’re making that a priority because the PlayStation 4 software is incredibly fluid and the Xbox One interface just feels clunky and slow. Hopefully that’ll change soon.
