Bungie prototyped fantasy game called Gypsum after Halo

We all know Bungie from the Halo series and from Destiny most recently, but the company was working on another game before Halo 2 called Gypsum. In a recent interview with IGN, Marty O’Donnell revealed that the team from the also cancelled Project Phoenix game started working on this assignment after the original Halo. Gypsum was a third-person fantasy game in which you played as a hammer-wielding minotaur that could do “magic stuff”. Apparently the game was actually further along than you might think and even had a twenty-minute playable demo. Take a look at the interview below, courtesy of IGN.

Personally, I always like hearing about games that could have existed, as well as what goes on behind the scenes of our favorite studios. But don’t get your hopes up about that playable demo since it will likely never see the light of day, however cool it might have been. Would you be interested in seeing some concept art or additional elements from the Gypsum’s development period, or do you think it’s best left forgotten?
