Update: Bungie confirmed this was just a pricing error.
Many weeks ago we reported on a rumor that Destiny was going free-to-play soon, at least the base version of the game without any of the expansions. It seems like there might be some truth behind that rumor. Today, IGN’s Destin Legarie posted a screenshot from the Microsoft Store showing Destiny as available for free on Xbox One. While this might be an error, it seems like there might be something to it given the history of the rumors.
Wow that’s legit. It looks like Destiny is free. Some are even saying it’s going F2P. Would you like that? pic.twitter.com/DMeffBEJnx

No matter what you think about Destiny, it’s still one of the top-played games on Xbox One and consistently sits in the top five to top ten. This will definitely cause more people to try out the game and possibly buy the expansions. Definitely a smart move by Activision.
