With the Gears of War 4 story being so far into the future, a lot has changed. With those changes, we also see many changes to both the weapons and enemies so we are going to be talking about the ones we know.
The weapons of the Gears of War series have always had a very gnarly look and that definitely won’t be changing in the upcoming title. We will be seeing favorites like the lancer with the chainsaw and snub pistol that will have a couple of changes to them to match the new feel of the game. We will also be seeing some new weapons though including The Dropshot, the Combat Knife, and the Buzzkill. The Dropshot could be seen as the upgraded version of the Digger launcher except on the Dropshot you fire a drill and have control where it goes and when to drop it on an unknowing enemy’s head. The combat knife will have a different look based on what faction you’re playing as and brings to the table some gruesome melee executions. Lastly, we have my personal favorite, the Buzzkill, which launches a ton of bounceable buzz saws that cause a lot of destruction but be careful where you stand when firing.
With a loadout of such badass guns, you have to have some awesome enemies to kill…well…meet the Swarm. The Swarm has three major types of enemies that we know of which are the Drones, the Juvies, and the Pouncers. The Drones are the basic enemies that you will run into and they come in four classes which are the Imago, the Grenadier, the Sniper, and the Hunter. The Juvies seem to be swarm type enemies that are extremely fast, hard to hit, and have powerful abilities so don’t pop their pods or you might get a nasty surprise. Last but not least we have the Pouncers which are huge dog-like beasts that can maul you to death short range or just as easily shoot you with their quills long range so I suggest you be very cautious when taking this beast on.
The new weapons and enemies that The Coalition are bringing to the series really get me excited for the kind of situations we will be put into and I mean who can refuse a gun that shoots buzz saws?
