As you all know, the internet is a strange place. Fanboys from across the aisle love to spread rumors in an endless attempt to seemingly damage the reputation of the console manufacturer they don’t like. Well, recently, a rumor was started that Microsoft would shut down the Xbox 360’s servers in November 2016. There was no evidence that this was true but like everything else when it comes to Microsoft, the lie spread like wildfire.
@0RIGINALENERGY Not true.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) January 16, 2016
Phil Spencer sorted it out though. When a user asked him on Twitter whether the company was shutting down servers in 2016, he said it wasn’t true. Microsoft never expected the Xbox 360 to remain this popular. Take a look at NPD results, many games still sell the best on Xbox 360. That’s a remarkable achievement right there because hardly anyone buys PlayStation 3 titles anymore.
Either ways, I’m glad this rumor was put to rest. Now we just have to wait for the next one that Phil Spencer has to debunk. I wonder what people will come up with next.
