Update: A complete video comparison surfaced online. It verifies our observations about the Xbox One version. It also appears that installing the Xbox One holiday update helps alleviate some of the issues but some of the textures and anti-aliasing have massive problems still especially when it comes to objects at a distance, shadows and cutscenes.
So we got a review copy of Dishonored 2 for Xbox One from Bethesda and purchased a copy for PlayStation 4. The PlayStation 4 version is great and plays well, it looks crisp too. The Xbox One version is absolutely terrible and is filled with low-resolution textures and low-resolution shadows. The Xbox One port of Dishonored 2 has to be quite possibly the worst looking version of any game ever to have been ported to Xbox One. Usually Bethesda-published games have parity or look similar but this is absolutely unacceptable. This is on the level of Ark: Survival Evolved. I expected the PlayStation 4 version to have the same issues but it doesn’t. These severe visual problems are limited to Xbox One.
We’ve asked Bethesda for clarification about the frame rate and resolution as well as the textures used in the game. We’ll let you know as soon as we know more.
