Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios have announced the newest car pack for Forza Horizon known as the ‘Alpinestars Car Pack’ which will be available starting later today, May 5th 2015. The pack includes six new cars with one of those being free to everyone. The pack is not included with the Season Pass which ended in March 2015 and therefore will cost everyone $5.
The first car included in the pack is the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 which features a supercharged LT4 outputting 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque enabling it to destroy almost anything on the road without even considering the price tag of other vehicles. The Corvette isn’t just great on the inside but on the outside, you soon learn that this may be one of the nicest cars built to date.
Let’s wind back to 1953 and have a look at the 1953 Chevrolet Corvette. This Chevy features the ‘Blue Flame’ with 160 horsepower and a 235-cubic inch in-line six-cylinder engine and two speed Powerglide transmission. It’s a car that didn’t have rollup windows, they were hand-built and were all polo white with red interiors. The use of fibreglass was not only a weight-saving innovation but was necessary due to the time of when the vehicle was released. It was a vehicle that the public wanted and it changed the course of American car history.
The 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has saw a couple of changes in its 29-year production run despite being produced by three different manufacturers known as Willys-Overland, AMC and finally Chrysler. The Wagoneer replaced the Willys Jeep Station Wagon that dates back to the mid-1940s. It might be rugged but it does provide a luxurious ride and offers amenities no other off-road vehicle could offer. The Grand Wagoneer is reminiscent of the woodies of the past, but this rig is built to take on the rigors of any adventure its owner may choose.
Ah I think this one could easily be one of my favourites in the pack. Here we have the new 2015 Audi TTS Coupé. It doesn’t just look nice but it packs a punch with its 300 horsepower from its turbo four-cylinder. That’s before the tuning even begins. Coupled with all-wheel-drive, it will beg you to push its considerable limits to their max. At heart, it’s a thrilling, eminently drivable Audi experience.
Next is the 1970 AMC Rebel known as the ‘The Machine’. It has a V8 outputting 340 horsepower and features a flamboyant red, white and blue paint scheme. The car was posided as a street legal drag car and could run mid-14s in the quarter mile. The distinctive ram-air hood scoop and hood-mounted tachometer contributed to the car’s performance-minded attitude.
The next car is the free May car for Forza Horizon 2. It’s another Bugatti with the 1992 EB110 Super Sport. It was a car built to honour Ettore Bugatti on his 100th birthday and to celebrate the rebirth of the car company that he founded. This car is nothing short of spectacular. The light supercar drops some weight and gains even more power. It has a carbon fibre chassis but what’s even more impressive is the 12-cylinder, 60-valve, quad-turbo motor and turns all four wheels and delivers a speed of more than 200mph. This car only ever saw 31 models produced making its ownership list one of the world’s exclusive clubs. Neat.
That’s it for the May update for Forza Horizon 2. The update and car pack should be available later today at just $5. As for June, I’ve a feel Turn 10 have something extra special planned for us at E3.
