Jason Voorhees announced for Mortal Kombat X in wake of last generation delays

NetherRealm Studios just revealed a character from Mortal Kombat X’s Kombat Pack. To everyone’s surprise, it includes the legendary slasher Jason Voorhees. The supernatural killer will be available to those who purchase the Kombat Pack for $29.99 in the United States and £24.99 in the United Kingdom. The Kombat Pack in free for individuals who purchase Mortal Kombat X’s Coarse Kollector’s Edition, Limited Edition or Premium Edition as well.

Jason Voorhees is a fictional character from the Friday the 13th series. He first appeared back in the 1980 film Friday the 13th as the young son of the camp chef-turned-murderer, Mrs. Voorhees. Jason was not originally intended to carry the series as the main antagonist, but due to the mystery surrounding the character in the first film, he was given more prominence in later releases.

The complete contents of the Kombat Pack have not been revealed but they will include two “Klassic Mortal Kombat Kombatants” that are still in development and a further guest character. I hope Freddy Krueger is also a playable character in Mortal Kombat X like he was in Mortal Kombat 9. I have been wishing for my very own Freddy Kruger versus Jason Voorhees battle for many years. It might just happen this time around.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Mortal Kombat X have been delayed to this summer according to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. High Voltage Software, not NetherRealm Studios, is developing the game for these platforms as well as Windows. The Windows and Xbox One versions are still set to launch on April 14, 2015.
