Activision have announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered’s license will be stored on disc for Xbox One users, however, PS4 copies of the highly anticipated shooter will have to use a one-time-only digital download code in order to play the game.
This method is reminiscent of the recent Dead Island Collection where Dead Island Riptide was on-disc for Xbox One but for some reason was distributed as a digital download code for PS4 owners.
It seems that the handling of Modern Warfare Remastered is becoming increasingly annoying as the Infinite Warfare disc *will* be required for playing MW Remastered. Activision’s push for MW Remastered being tied to Infinite Warfare is no doubt continuing to infuriate customers who just want the remastered game, especially on Sony’s platform. If you want to buy a used copy, be sure to get it on Xbox One because you’ll get half the package on PlayStation 4. If you’re into selling games, be sure to pick up the Xbox One version too because it’ll retain value.
