State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition is coming to Xbox One

I know what your thinking. Another last generation game is getting a make over. Why oh why do we keep getting re-mastered versions of games from the 360 era? Well in all honesty, this particular title has me counting the days until its Spring 2015 release date. I LOVE STATE OF DECAY!

The surprise Xbox Live Arcade hit, State of Decay, was brilliant. It had everything a zombie apocalypse game should have. A real sense of survival, fellowship, intensity and horror. Quite frankly, what the guys achieved over at Undead Labs on such a relatively small budget is remarkable, and now we get to see even more of what the title is capable of on the Xbox One.

State of Decay Year One Survival Edition will see the original game get a graphical improvement, boosting of the resolution up from 720p to the magical 1080p, better animations and textures, plus the inclusion of the two DLC installments Lifeline and Breakdown. Jeff Strain, founder of Undead Labs said, “We wanted to address some of the animations, generally do a lot of polish on that, and just generally improve on the environment textures. We’re also taking some of the base management features from the Lifeline DLC and integrating that into the core game, and also taking some of the heroes and characters that were introduced and allowing them to be playable characters from Lifeline and Breakdown as well. And we’re going to be bundling Lifeline and Breakdown as well. So this will be the definitive edition of State of Decay.”

Strain also hinted that this was just the beginning of the franchise on the Xbox One. He said, “This is the first next-gen step for the State of Decay franchise. Obviously we have big plans for this franchise going forward into the future, and getting it here gets us to the baseline we need to be to start pursuing that.”. Ultimatley this is un-surprising given to the fact that Microsoft has just signed a multi-year extension deal with the developer, for future publications of the State of Decay franchise. State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition is due to launch Spring 2015 on Xbox One and Steam. The Xbox One will also recieve a physical copy for you to buy from all good retailers.
