Dystopian adventure The Surge looks like a rather unique title coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 next year. However, what exactly does that entail? Well, the first gameplay footage from the title gives us some idea of what to expect. The game is made by Lords of the Fallen developers and going by their strengths, we can deduce what we’re in for. The title looks like a mix of science fiction and Dark Souls…or Lords of the Fallen.
Lords of the Fallen was one of my most favorite games when it came out despite being very difficult. While it had a lot of issues on Xbox One, The Surge seems to be more promising already. Games like Dark Souls have become really popular over the years and have garnered a cult following of sorts. Titles like Bloodborne are quite popular despite their niche appeal.
The Surge’s fusion of futuristic technology with Dark Souls-like gameplay promises to be a hit. It should appeal to more gamers because of its setting and environment. I don’t think I’ve ever played a Dark Souls-like game set in the future. Even Bloodborne was set in a dark Victorian setting. This game is definitely one to look out for when it comes out next year. The gameplay got me more excited than any screenshot and I can’t wait to learn more about it. Hopefully we’ll have a proper reveal at E3 2016. Let the waiting game begin.
