Xbox One was the most popular platform of E3

According to online retailer Amazon, Xbox One game and console orders rose over the week after E3, larger than many competitors. Many first-party or exclusive games rose rapidly up the charts, with Forza Motorsport 6, and Rare Replay seeing the largest increase in customer interest. Rare Replay is the title with the largest number of pre-orders, out of those announced at E3. Forza saw the largest increase in pre-orders for a title announced prior. The pre-orders for this edition of the Forza franchise rose by more than 1000% over the course of the event.

The Xbox One Elite controller was the most ordered piece of hardware after the event. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Gears of War 4, and many Bethesda titles also were in the top 10 most pre-ordered items. We also saw Star Wars: Battlefront 3 pre-orders rise by 857%, Rainbow Six: Siege by 690% and Halo 5: Guardians by 344%.

Data for other countries has not currently been shared, however seeing these figures in the UK, where Sony consoles are usually more favoured, we can expect that other western markets will have more orders than competitors, if not, increased sales figures.

Even though sales are a great way to measure interest in a game, engagement is better measured via social media. Sythesio is a social intelligence firm, who measure engagement and trends of social communications, to help businesses with their online presence. The company measured and analyzed this data, and found that the Xbox One console was the most discussed console.

According to Sythesio’s global marketing vice president, Leah Pope, 74% of global platform based discussions were about Xbox. A larger amount of the discussions were about the actual show, however Microsoft obviously stood out when it came to the general public’s impressions. Playstation, PC, and Wii took 13.4%, 7.6%, and 4.9% respectively.

Supposedly nearly double the mentions of E3 were positive, when compared to negative conversations. It seems that Microsoft had a great show from these figures, with even more to come at Gamescom.

//Update: There appears to be some confusion regarding Sythesio’s data. This is global mind share, not UK based.
