Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgment developer People Can Fly is now an independent studio. The company was acquired by Epic Games two years ago and renamed Epic Games Poland. However, they have now regained their independence and acquired the Bulletstorm franchise from Epic Games. The studio also confirmed that they are working on a brand new project but it is unclear what it is. Sebastian Wojciechowski from People Can Fly stated that the title was an “entirely new unannounced game.”
In a statement to the media, Tim Sweeney from Epic Games added, “We’ve been honored to work with this brilliant group of programmers, artists and designers throughout their history: first as a partner using the Unreal Engine, then as a studio within Epic, and now once again as an independent company.”
According to People Can Fly, they began the process of becoming independent again after launching Gears of War: Judgment. Epic Games was supportive of their decision and made the transition smooth. The desire to become independent stems from the studio’s want to work on their own ideas.
We cannot wait to see what this studio is working on. Bulletstorm was amazing and hopefully we will see a new shooter from them soon.
