Update: Ubisoft has disabled multiplayer until they release a patch for the game. The multiplayer basically allows invasions and other co-op activities. Despite that, Watch Dogs 2 is still a fantastic game. I’m glad the annoying invasions aren’t occurring.
We always try to bring you reviews in a timely fashion and for the Xbox One version of games, which the majority of outlets neglect. We always review the Xbox One version of games because we believe that you should know the truth about what to expect. Do resolution differences really matter? Are there performance issues you should be worried about? What about other glitches? We try to address all of these concerns like we did recently with Dishonored 2 and its visual issues on Xbox One. By providing an accurate representation of what to expect from any game on the system, we believe that we can help you make informed purchasing decisions. However, all of this rests on our ability to test the Xbox One version of games. This is why sometimes our reviews are delayed.
In order to help you, we rely on publishers like Ubisoft and others to provide us with early access to the Xbox One version of games. Our Watch Dogs 2 review won’t be out on time because of that. According to Ubisoft’s public relations department, they were only able to offer us early access to the PlayStation 4 version a few days before launch. The Xbox One codes will have to wait until after. From my understanding, this is due to the marketing agreement between Sony and Ubisoft with regards to Watch Dogs 2. Sony prefers it when reviewers are able to experience it on their system regardless of personal preference.
While that gives us an opportunity to get into the story and gameplay, it doesn’t allow us to evaluate how the game looks and performs on Xbox One. When we founded ICXM.net, it was one of our core pillars to provide a place where Xbox One gamers could learn more about their version of certain titles. Keeping all of that in mind, we’ll have a review of Watch Dogs 2 for you when we’re able to thoroughly test out the Xbox One version. Hopefully it’ll be sometime later on next week. Hopefully this update provided some insight into our process and why the review will be delayed.
