MEET THE GAMER: ZI RICOCHET IZ

What is your Gamertag and the reason for choosing it?

Other than the word/noise sounding cool? It’s mainly because it’s also the nickname of one of my childhood heroes, Rick from The Mummy. The ZI was originally for framing but once I started up my YouTube I noticed there’s a lot of Ricochets… So I wanted to stand out and be a little different! I wanted to be ZI one and only 🙌

What is your favourite genre/s of game and why?

I spend a lot of my time on shooters but my all time favorite to play? Hmm… I’d say a good, scary horror game! The Dead Space games being up there 😱 I think I prefer horror because you feel more involved… It gets your heart and mind racing overtime and that makes it so much fun! Don’t get me wrong, the feeling of killing another player online is great, but nothing feels better than escaping a bunch of bloodthirsty aliens/other scary thing while being scared out of your mind!

What is your favourite game so far? (Doesn’t need to be an Xbox title!)

Favorite game so far? In my life??! I’d have to say Ocarina of time! I know it’s now almost cliche but hey – it’s an amazing game, ahead of it’s time and, as I’m sure with most gamers my age, was one of the first games I really got attached to! I spent most of my childhood bumbling around Hyrule just enjoying the game. There’s not many games these days that just let you take five from the story and just enjoy the world…

What is your most memorable gaming moment?

My most memorable gaming experience has to be the first time I played the last mission (The Maw) on Halo 1. I was maybe 10, I know – badass alert! I was playing splitscreen with my lil bro (8) and it was just so exhilarating. The whole of a ship exploding around us while we drive a tiny car through it – full of bad guys! Explosions, gunfire and actual fire! So, so amazing! I think we died tons of times but it was just so much fun, we didn’t care! I don’t think many games (despite Halo 3, attempting it again on the last mission) have reminded me of that excitement and all of the chaos whilst playing!

Which achievement has been the most frustrating to obtain? How long did it take you?

The hardest achievement I can remember would have to be finishing COD 4, the best one, on veteran! It took me ages to do! Not only was it super tough but most of my checkpoints I’d either have no ammo or I’d be about to explode! AND the amount of ‘last stand’ missions (The Bog) AND remember there was that mission where you had to get to the chopper (the second to last one) – that one even had a timer! It was near impossible! I’M PRETTY SURE THAT I STOPPED PLAYING COD FOR MONTHS BECAUSE OF THAT MISSION! So yeah – that one was the hardest achievement so far!

What is your gamerscore and how long has it taken you to get it?

35,185! I’m pretty happy with it… It’s been about 4/5 years? I wouldn’t say I’m a completionist or an achievement hunter but if it’s story related (instead of lame bonus stuff like Intel) I’m defo going to try get it!

What is your gaming guilty pleasure?

Oh lord! When I’m not killing aliens, shooting stuff, blowing it up, slaying, looting, burning and other such things – my guilty pleasure would be the original Animal Crossing! It’s a nice change of pace and it’s fun…. Don’t judge me!

If you could pick a video game character, who would you be and why?

Unsurprisingly, I’d love to be Link (not Zelda)! Do I need to explain why? He has a collection of shape shifting masks, gets to go on awesome adventures, gets a cool sword and fairy, can travel in time, gets a horse and is naturally awesome at playing music! I mean C’mon! That’s like everything anyone wants right?

If you could pick a location, from any game, to visit, where would it be and why?

Aha! Okay well I’d love to see the Halo rings… I’d love to see Hyrule, I’d love to see the Fallout 3 wasteland BUT my all time awesome thing I’d love to see would be the Assassin’s Creed 4 universe! Just chilling on the Jackdaw or running around the observatory or Nassar, it would all be crazy to see!

Finally, where do you see gaming heading in the next decade?

I’m pretty sure gaming will be heading more towards open world experiences, like Fallout. I know open world had been around a while but I think people enjoy it more/get a more unique experience from it. I would love for virtual reality to really take off! Futurama style! Imagine Skyrim or GTA! That will be an exciting time to be alive!
