Download Cyberpunk 2077 for Windows 11 and Windows 10
Steam and GOG both sell the Windows version. CD Projekt Red made Windows 11 the minimum required OS for Cyberpunk 2077 after Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025, and no longer tests the game on Windows 10. The Steam listing still shows 64-bit Windows 10, and DirectX 12 is required on either version.
The Steam listing covers both Windows and Mac, and the Steam copy includes Steam Cloud saves, Steam Achievements, Family Sharing and full controller support. Cyberpunk 2077 is not sold as a Windows edition on xbox.com: the Xbox listing covers Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Install Cyberpunk 2077 through Steam
- Open the Cyberpunk 2077 page on the Steam store and install the Steam client if the PC or Mac does not have it yet.
- Sign in to Steam, return to the Cyberpunk 2077 page and buy the game, adding Phantom Liberty separately if you want the expansion.
- Open your Steam library and install Cyberpunk 2077 on an SSD with at least 70 GB free on Windows, or 92 GB free on a Mac.
- Launch the game from the library; reaching the main menu confirms the install worked.
Steam lists the SSD as required at both the minimum and recommended spec, and CD Projekt Red ended hard drive support in September 2023. The Mac version must also be installed on an SSD.
Download Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 2
One Xbox listing covers Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with Smart Delivery and the Optimized for Xbox Series X|S badge. The PS5 version is a separate download: owners of disc and digital PS4 editions upgrade to it for free, and PS4 save files transfer to it. Nintendo Switch 2 gets Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on the official Nintendo store.
The Xbox One and PS4 versions received their last patch on November 8th, 2022 and are no longer supported. An Xbox Series X|S or a PS5 is required to apply later patches and to buy and play the Phantom Liberty expansion.

Is Cyberpunk 2077 on Game Pass?
No. Buy the Xbox edition of Cyberpunk 2077; Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate then lets you stream it through Xbox Cloud Gaming. The Xbox listing states the game is cloud playable with those three plans and that a game purchase is required.
PC Game Pass does not include Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Cyberpunk 2077 has no Windows edition on xbox.com.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 free?
No. Steam, the Mac App Store, the Xbox store and the PlayStation Store all sell Cyberpunk 2077 as a paid game, and the five-hour PlayStation trial ran only until March 25, 2022. On PlayStation, the base game is also part of the PlayStation Plus Extra Game Catalog.

For ray tracing at 1080p and 30 FPS on Windows, CD Projekt Red lists a Core i7-9700 or Ryzen 5 5600, a GeForce RTX 2060, Radeon RX 6800 XT or Arc A750, 8 GB of video memory and 16 GB of RAM. On a Mac, ray tracing needs an M3 chip or newer, and the default For this Mac preset leaves it off.
On Steam, Phantom Liberty lists 35 GB of SSD space for the expansion.
Can you download Cyberpunk 2077 on Mac?

Both Mac builds require macOS 15.5 or later and a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later, so an Intel Mac meets neither requirement. To check your Mac, open the Apple menu in the top-left corner of the screen and select About This Mac, which shows the chip, memory and macOS version.
The Mac App Store listing asks for about 15% extra free space during download and installation, on top of the listed size.
Cyberpunk 2077 on iPhone and Android
Cyberpunk 2077 has no iPhone or Android version, and the App Store edition is listed as Only for Mac. The official way to play it on a phone is Xbox Cloud Gaming: buy the Xbox edition, keep an Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate subscription, and stream the game from xbox.com/play in Safari on iPhone or in a supported browser on Android.
Xbox Cloud Gaming needs a compatible controller connected over Bluetooth or USB and a connection of at least 10 Mbps down, with 5GHz Wi-Fi recommended. Cloud playtime is capped at 5 hours a month on Essential, 10 hours on Premium and 15 hours on Ultimate.

How to update Cyberpunk 2077 to the latest patch
Cyberpunk 2077 updates automatically on all platforms, and Patch 2.31 is the latest update. Update 2.3 added three cars, a new motorcycle and AutoDrive to Night City's vehicles, and Patch 2.31 made AutoDrive overtake blocking vehicles instead of stopping at traffic lights.
- On PC or Mac, let Steam, GOG GALAXY or the Mac App Store finish any pending Cyberpunk 2077 update before launching.
- On PS5, check the installed copy in your game library carries the PS5 logo; if the PS4 version is installed, download the PS5 version manually from the library.
- Transfer your PS4 save files to the PS5 version so you pick up where you left off.
- On Xbox, play on an Xbox Series X|S to receive current patches; on Xbox One the game stays at the November 8th, 2022 patch.
Fix Cyberpunk 2077 not downloading or installing
There is not enough room for Cyberpunk 2077 on the PC's SSD
Cyberpunk 2077 needs 70 GB on an SSD, and CD Projekt Red discontinued hard drive support in September 2023.
- Free at least 70 GB on an SSD.
- Move or reinstall the game to that SSD from your Steam or GOG library.
- Launch the game again.
Cyberpunk 2077 crashes or will not launch after the download
Corrupted game files can cause crashes, glitched graphics or a game that will not launch.
- In Steam, open the Library, right-click Cyberpunk 2077 and select Properties.
- Select the Installed files tab and click Verify integrity of game files…, then wait while Steam checks the files.
- In GOG GALAXY, choose the game from Owned games, click Customize next to Play, then select Manage installation and Verify / Repair.
- Load a save created before the problem started.
Cyberpunk 2077 will not install on a Mac
Both Mac builds require an Apple M1 chip or later, macOS 15.5 or later and an SSD.
- Open the Apple menu, select About This Mac and confirm an M1 chip or newer and macOS 15.5 or later.
- Free 92 GB on the SSD for the Steam build, or 159 GB plus about 15% for the Mac App Store build.
- Start the install again; on an Intel Mac, stream the Xbox edition from xbox.com/play instead.
Phantom Liberty will not download on Xbox One or PS4
The Xbox One and PS4 versions stopped receiving patches on November 8th, 2022, and the expansion needs the newer consoles.
- Play on an Xbox Series X|S or a PS5 with the same account.
- Install the Series X|S or PS5 version of the base game.
- Buy and download Phantom Liberty on that console.
The PS5 still runs the old PS4 version
A PS4 copy installed on PS5 does not switch to the PS5 version on its own.
- Open the game library on the PS5.
- Download the Cyberpunk 2077 version with the PS5 logo.
- Transfer the PS4 save files and continue on the PS5 version.
Cyberpunk 2077 will not start in Xbox Cloud Gaming on iPhone
Cloud play needs both a game purchase and a Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate subscription, plus at least 10 Mbps.
- Confirm you own the Xbox edition on the Microsoft account signed in to xbox.com/play.
- Confirm the subscription is Essential, Premium or Ultimate, not PC Game Pass.
