Download Halo Infinite for PC, Windows 11/10, Mac and iPhone (Free)

Halo Infinite is a free download on Windows 11 and Windows 10 PCs, through the Microsoft Store, the Xbox app or Steam, and on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, but it has no Mac or iPhone version: on those you stream it from the cloud.

The free download is the multiplayer and Forge; the campaign is a paid add-on or comes with Game Pass, and there is no PlayStation or Nintendo Switch version.

Download Halo Infinite for Windows 11 and Windows 10

Both PC storefronts install the same free-to-play game. The Microsoft version supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so a campaign bought there also plays on an Xbox console at no additional cost.

Install Halo Infinite from the Microsoft Store or the Xbox app

  1. Open the Halo Infinite page on xbox.com on the PC and sign in with your Microsoft account.
  2. Under Multiplayer, select Download now to get the free game. Select Get it now under Campaign only if you are buying the campaign.
  3. Finish the install in the Microsoft Store or the Xbox app.
  4. Launch Halo Infinite from your library and sign in with the same Microsoft account.

A Game Pass Premium, PC Game Pass or Ultimate member installs the same package, and the campaign comes with the membership instead of a purchase.

Install Halo Infinite through Steam

  1. If Steam is not on the PC, select Install Steam on store.steampowered.com and sign in.
  2. Open the Halo Infinite Steam page and select Play Game under Play Halo Infinite.
  3. Let Steam install the game, with 50 GB of available space, together with Easy Anti-Cheat, the kernel-level anti-cheat Halo Infinite uses.
  4. Launch the game and sign in with the Microsoft account that holds your Xbox profile, since Halo Infinite on Steam requires an Xbox Live account.
  5. To add the campaign, select Add to Cart next to Buy Halo Infinite (Campaign).

Download Halo Infinite on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

Halo Infinite supports Smart Delivery, so one listing installs the version built for your console. Online multiplayer in free-to-play games needs no Game Pass on Xbox, so the free download is enough to play online.

On Xbox Series X it runs at up to 120 FPS and 4K Ultra HD on supported maps and modes with a compatible TV or monitor.

  1. On the console, open the Store and search for Halo Infinite, or open the Halo Infinite page on xbox.com on another device to check the listing.
  2. Choose the free Halo Infinite listing and install it.
  3. Buy Halo Infinite (Campaign) from the same listing if you want the campaign and do not have it through Game Pass.
  4. Start Halo Infinite from your library once the install finishes.

Is Halo Infinite on Game Pass?

Yes. The Halo Infinite bundle with the campaign is included in Game Pass Premium, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate. The multiplayer stays free with or without a subscription, on PC and on console.

Plan Campaign included Stream with Xbox Cloud Gaming Cloud playtime
Game Pass Ultimate Yes Yes 15 hours/month
Game Pass Premium Yes Yes 10 hours/month
PC Game Pass Yes, PC only No; cloud gaming is not included None
Game Pass Essential No Only after you buy the game 5 hours/month
No subscription No; multiplayer only No None

Is Halo Infinite free?

The multiplayer and Forge Beta are free to play on every official platform. Halo Credits are optional in-app purchases, and the campaign is the only paid part of the game itself.

Part of Halo Infinite US price Where it is sold
Multiplayer and Forge Beta Free Steam, Microsoft Store, Xbox consoles
Halo Infinite (Campaign) $59.99 list price Steam, Microsoft Store
500 Halo Credits $4.99 Microsoft Store add-ons
1,000 Halo Credits $9.99 Microsoft Store add-ons
2,000 Halo Credits +200 Bonus $19.99 Microsoft Store add-ons
5,000 Halo Credits +600 Bonus $49.99 Microsoft Store add-ons
10,000 Halo Credits +1,500 Bonus $99.99 Microsoft Store add-ons

The campaign is a paid add-on everywhere outside Game Pass, so a site offering it as a free download is not a legitimate source.

Fix Halo Infinite not downloading, launching or streaming

Halo Infinite will not install on the PC

The PC is below the minimum spec or the drive lacks space.

  1. Check that Windows is a 64-bit edition at Windows 10 RS5 or newer.
  2. Free up at least 50 GB on the install drive.
  3. Confirm the graphics card supports DirectX 12, then retry the download.

The Steam version stops at the sign-in screen

  2. Relaunch Halo Infinite from the Steam library after the sign-in completes.

The campaign is missing after installing

The free download contains the multiplayer and Forge only.

  2. Or join Game Pass Premium, PC Game Pass or Ultimate, then sign in with that account.

  1. Update to iOS 14.4 or later on iPhone, or macOS 14.1.2 or later on Mac.
  2. Use a supported browser such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome or Safari.
  3. Check that your plan is Game Pass Premium or Ultimate; Essential streams Halo Infinite only after you buy the game.
  4. Move to 5 GHz Wi-Fi or a wired connection of at least 20 Mbps.

How to uninstall Halo Infinite

  1. Uninstall Halo Infinite from the launcher you installed it with: the Steam library, or the Xbox app or Microsoft Store.
