Warner Bros. and MGM’s Tomb Raider film reboot starring Alicia Vikander has been given a release date of March 16, 2018.
Vikander was cast to play Lara Croft in late April after some speculation that the part would go to Daisy Ridley, who currently plays Rey in Star Wars. Vikander will be taking over the role from Angelina Jolie who was the original Lara Croft in the 2001 and 2003 Tomb Raider films from Paramount.
In addition to winning an Oscar for her performance in The Danish Girl, Vikander also received praise for her portrayal of an android in Ex Machina.
