Game of Thrones composer working on Rise of the Tomb Raider score, features procedurally generated music

Rise of the Tomb Raider is getting an epic soundtrack to combine with the vast and expansive adventures which you’ll undertake as Lara Croft. The composer for Game of Thrones, who also has experience with Iron Man and Despicable Me 2 has come on board the project. Bobby Tahouri has a wealth of experience and judging by his IMDB Profile. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with, having worked on Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen there is hope that the epicness of Rise of the Tomb Raider will be retained.

Music plays an interesting role within Rise pf the Tomb Raider as it contains some procedurally generated music using a system created by Intelligent Music Systems. This will be used during certain stages of the game. One notable point of use is the various stealth combat events throughout the game.

Tahouri spoke on his appointment saying, “It’s been an honor working on such a storied franchise. Lara is someone who embodies an indomitable spirit, and crafting music to accompany her on her journey has been a fantastic experience.”

The brand director at Crystal Dynamics, Rich Brigg, had this to say on the sound which Bobby Tahouri has come up with. “Music is incredibly important in video games to help create the right atmosphere, mood and tone, and this is especially true for Rise of the Tomb Raider, which is set to be Lara’s biggest and boldest adventure yet…we love the sound Bobby brings to the game, and we’re excited for fans to join Lara in this adventure when the game launches on November 10.”. With a Preview like this, we’re inclined to agree.
