Windows 10 RTM build now available to Windows Insiders

Update: The final build of Windows 10, build 10240, which will be the base version of Windows 10, is now available to Fast and Slow ring Insiders. The update fixes a lot of bugs and removes the watermark at the bottom of the screen. Be sure to download it right now.

It is being reported that Microsoft have chosen a build for manufacturing, which will be the base edition of Windows 10. This RTM version will be the build found on PCs with Windows 10 pre-installed, before updates are downloaded after being given to the end user.

The Verge reports that build 10240 has been chosen for release, and will soon be distributed to manufacturers to install on devices. The build is supposedly being signed off today, and will be announced officially within the coming week. This then gives time for companies to install Windows 10 on these machines, for release not long after the operating system is available publicly.

From now on, teams will work on small changes and fixes, however the core features are all in place, and the operating system is ‘feature complete’. New build releases will slow down also, as small fixes are implemented on top of build 10240.

Windows 10 launches July 29, and will become available on new devices over the following weeks.
