Microsoft’s Misashi Inoue believes Scalebound will boost Xbox One sales in Japan

Ever since it’s release in Japan, the Xbox One has fallen short of its sales goals to say the least. With only several thousand units sold in the first year, Phil Spencer and Xbox have been looking for a way to break down the wall head by PlayStation in that area for so long. After all, there headquarters is in Japan. Well, enter PlatinumGames.

The developer is widely known in Japan and it’s most recent Wii U title Bayonetta 2 was a huge hit there. Xbox Japan’s marketing manager Misashi Inoue was asked about the collaboration between with Xbox and how it could help the console’s sales in Japan.

“I think not only it’s an exclusive for Xbox, but PlatinumGames is well known, and has big fans in Japan and also overseas. So, having seen those great demos, I firmly believe that that it’s going to deliver a lot of excitement to our customers, and we’re looking forward to the release.”

Masashi Inoue also conveyed his confidence during the Xbox One Fanfest in Tokyo. When asked if he believed that Scalebound had the potential to boost console sales in the country, he said, “To be honest…oh yes. Oh yes.”

It will definitely be interesting to see even though we are just over a year out from Scalebound’s release. Remember, the game will also feature 4-player co-op with rideable dragons as well as additional skins and upgrades for your dragons. With as stacked as the lineup is for this holiday season for Xbox One, next year has Scalebound and Gears 4 already with surely more to be announced. What do you guys think about it so far? Let us know.
