Microsoft recently released the fantastic Xbox Elite Controller, however, the company might be making an Elite Keyboard and Mouse to go with the console. A source familiar with the project who spoke with Xbox One Gaming Netherlands revealed the existence of the project. The website reports:
“A source within Microsoft indicates that there is even an Elite Keyboard and Mouse on the way. This would mean that Microsoft, in addition to the previously released Elite Controller last year, is also producing a compatible keyboard and mouse for the consoleā¦E3, which starts next June, is an excellent stage to show these products to the general public.”
As with any rumor, take this with a grain of salt until we have official confirmation. I personally find this doubtful as you can already use any keyboard with the Xbox One. Microsoft already makes a lot of fantastic accessories and top-of-the-line keyboards and mice. Either ways, let’s see what happens in the future. The report also said that the Elite Keyboard and Mouse would be available for games like Halo Wars 2 so we’ll have to wait until then.
Please note that while you can use any keyboard with the Xbox One right now, it only works with inputting text. Games don’t support the use of a keyboard or mouse. Microsoft has said that the ability to use a keyboard and mouse for some games is coming. While not all games will support a mouse and keyboard, you can expect co-op shooters and single-player titles to support this. Competitive multiplayer titles will probably be restricted to a controller to maintain fairness during matches. It might even be stricter than that though; Microsoft might just allow mouse and keyboard support for games like Halo Wars 2 that work best when clicking.
