Assassin’s Creed Origins is coming out this October according to a new leak

Assassin’s Creed Origins has suffered so many leaks we’re practically swimming in an ocean at this point. The latest leak comes from an early copy of Game Informer magazine that contains its entire cover story on the game.

The images posted on imgur give us our most substantial look at Assassin’s Creed Origins yet, which may very well be one of the worst kept secrets ever. Development on the game began months before Assassin’s Creed Unity shipped by the team behind Black Flag. The additional time spent on Origins after it was announced that the series would be skipping its annual release meant that the team could focus on polishing its new mechanics, including a brand-new fight system and brand-new AI.

Fans of earlier entries should remember the puzzles from Assassin’s Creed 2 and Brotherhood which are making their way back into Assassin’s Creed Origins. While they are slightly different, these puzzles focus on finding a suitable path through an area by navigating the environment and other hazards. There will be more than twenty such sites to explore.

The main protagonist, as most should know by now, is indeed Bayek, who has been the subject of numerous leaks. His tale is set against the reign of Cleopatra, whose incomplete story has lead to many legends surrounding her. This all but confirms the leaked t-shirt from days ago which dated the setting of the game at 49 BC.

As a section of the story notes, Assassin’s Creed Origins will be one of the first titles running on Microsoft’s Project Scorpio. While demoing the game on PC, Game Informer said the game felt fairly steady at 30 FPS, but on Scorpio it seemed to be more consistent, even at 4K resolutions. The team at Ubisoft got the game running on Scorpio within weeks of receiving their development kits. Assassin’s Creed Origins is still being optimized, so the Scorpio version could see improvements by the time it releases.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is set to be officially unveiled at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference on June 12, but with the developer’s luck a trailer will probably leak before then too. According to the cover, Assassin’s Creed Origins is due out on October 27, 2017.
