ERSB published a bunch of fresh games rating this week, one of which held no surprises. The Witcher 3 will receive the ‘Mature’ rating – the franchise is known for its naughtiness, but thus far, the Batman series has been rated Teen – owing to its lack of gore, strictly cartoon violence and absence of cuss words.
Batman: Arkham Knight has picked up a Mature rating via the ESRB. The reasons aren’t yet known, but Rocksteady aren’t worried. This latest trailer proudly displays the M rating at the beginning, and solidifies expectations that Batman: Arkham Knight will be a day one purchase for many.
Speaking with IGN, Rocksteady founder Sefton Hill said: “I’m not blind to the fact that does mean some fans will miss out… I don’t want to be oblivious to that fact. It would have been wrong to water down the game and deliver a story we didn’t believe in to keep the game ‘mass market’ or enable it for more people. We feel that’s the wrong way to go about it. We said we love the story and we don’t want to jepoardize that.”
Will it result in a darker story? only time will tell. We all know Batman’s one rule.
