Details have been shared on the first expansion for Battlefield: Hardline – ‘Criminal Activity’ on the Battlefield blog and YouTube channel. With the minute long reveal trailer, we have been given information on what can be expected for Battlefield: Hardline over the coming months and what we will receive to support the title.
“There’s been a recent uptick in reports in the local precincts – a rash of violent crime that is seemingly connected somehow.
Small crews of well-trained, aggressive criminals have been using force of arms to terrorize the citizenry and are in direct conflict with the police in many cases. Public property damages and insurance claims have skyrocketed, not to mention the impact on the police force.
Detectives have uncovered evidence of a secret crime ring that could be behind all of this activity. They’re not sure why anyone would coordinate these goals – in a number of cases, the take seems to be smaller than the risk. But, orders have come down the chain to find out what’s going on and put a stop to it. Will you help the police?”
The first expansion will release with the following new content:
- 4 New maps
- 4 New weapons
- New gadget
- 2 New attachments
- 2 New vehicles
- New ‘Bounty Hunter’ gamemode
- 6 New Masks
The four new maps add new environments to expand the gameplay opportunities available in Hardline.
- ‘Code Blue’ is a nightclub based map with emphasis on neon and bright colours. The nightclub featured, ‘Blue Eclipse’, has a blue and pink colour scheme, which contrasts with the dark night time setting. This focuses on the close quarters elements of the game mechanics.
- ‘The Beat’, is set on a street in Miami, and features the new cruiser vehicle. The map will find you fighting in garages, liquor stores and a gas station.
- ‘Black Friday’ is set in Palm Court Mall, using the varying floors and heights to provide a new flow of gameplay. From the small teaser, we have found details that lead us to assume that some of the buildings are accessible. We also saw a sneak peak of a Dead Space easter egg in the mall.
- ‘Backwoods’ has a rural aesthetic, set in a large forest. In the map, a large lumberyard can be found, as well as a rail system. Large areas of the map have been cleared due to deforestation, with many ruined buildings and derelict cars across the battlefield.
From the details given at this point in time, we can assume that this DLC will focus largely on the criminal aspects of the game, and expand on the arsenal of weapons used by rogue groups. The introduction of new animal masks, and the Tommy Gun shows the focus on the illegal themes of the title.
‘Battlefield Hardline: Criminal Activity’ will release in June for Premium members, and two weeks later for the general public. The DLC will be available for all versions of Battlefield Hardline.
