Star Wars: Battlefront might suffer from the same connectivity and balancing issues as Battlefield 4 at launch

Battlefield 4 was completely broken when it released. The game suffered from connectivity problems and has many other issues. The problems were fixed a year later but it hurt the brand and the studio. It seems like history will repeat itself with Star Wars: Battlefront, another DICE game. A NeoGAF poster decided to break the NDA and said:

“I’ve been Alpha testing a few games and I can say Battlefront is a complete mess and is broken. Considering that their deadline for the game is in a few weeks and they still haven’t fixed the majority of the in game problems let alone the connection problem me and other testers were having, yes it’s going to be a mess. And even a day 1 patch won’t fix all of them, I don’t know too much outside what I played, but the game is indeed rushed and it’s all because of Episode 7 releasing this December.”

We got a chance to play Battlefront a few months ago and expressed our concerns with the awkward flight controls. I really hope the game isn’t broken because I’m really looking forward to it. However, given that it’s developed by DICE and their history with Battlefield 4, I really wouldn’t be surprised at all. It makes sense that the game is being rushed to capitalize on the popularity of The Force Awakens. What do you think?

The open beta begins on October 8 so I guess we’ll know soon.
