The company announced on Twitter that an individual or individuals had contacted them to say that they were in possession of internal files and documents belonging to CD Projekt RED, including early designs connected to the developer’s ambitious upcoming sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077.
These individuals threatened that if CD Projekt RED did not pay up a ransom, the files would be released online to the public. The company has contacted the appropriate legal authorities and has warned players to avoid any leaked information that doesn’t come from an official source. According to the developer, the documents are “old and largely unrepresentative of the current vision for the game.”
Cyberpunk 2077 was revealed over four years ago with a teaser trailer and does not yet have a release date. While information is limited, what we do know from job listings indicates that the game will feature flying vehicles. CD Projekt co-founder Michal Kiciński also believes that the game will be more successful than The Witcher 3.
