Destiny: Rise of Iron expansion livestream showcases new gear

Bungie officially revealed the “Rise of Iron” expansion today on Twitch and while most of the info had been leaked early we still got to learn a bit more about it. Rise of Iron will have a cinematic story focusing on the history of the Iron Lords and will feature new missions and quest lines having you fight against a new mutated Fallen threat. It will also feature new PvP content including maps, features, a new mode and PvE content which will include new patrols, public events, new and updated strikes, and even a new raid. As you take the adventure through all these activities your guardian will follow in these characters footsteps and become an Iron Lord themselves. Sadly you won’t be able to have wolves of your own though and the flaming axe will not be a permanent weapon but a relic like in the Vault of Glass.

Rise of Iron brings you to 3 new locations throughout the story to fight against the Fallen, mutated by Ceva. The First location is The Wall, this is where you awoke as a guardian and will be the start of your story in the expansion. The second location is Felwinter Peak which is the original home of the Iron Lords and houses statues dedicated to them in a temple which I’m guessing will be the new social space. The final location in the expansion is The Plaguelands, this is the area behind the wall that you will primarily fight against the Fallen. The social space looks really cool and even possibly has the statues of the lord’s giving quests.

Also, the Gjallarhorn will be making a return in two different forms. One of these will be the normal design which you will get through a questline to forge the weapon. The other variation will be an “Iron” form which is black and silver and is a pre-order bonus with the expansion.

Rise of Iron will be releasing on September 20th for $30 and will be about the size of The Taken King including a significant light increase. Sadly for those of you on last generation will not be able to play the expansion as it will only be on current gen. Those of you on last gen also will no longer have your progression carry over on both consoles since with Rise of Iron they will be splitting your progression to be generation specific (If you play on both 360 and One, everything you do on your Xbox One won’t carry over to your 360 characters anymore.). The expansion is currently up for pre-order on PS4 so I expect Xbox One to be available soon as well.
