During an interview with IGN, Scalebound’s director Hideki Kamiya teased a new ability Drew had. For those of you that don’t know, Scalebound is an upcoming JRPG from Microsoft Studios for Windows 10 and Xbox One featuring cross-buy. While we know that Drew can transform into a dragon beast and can use a variety of weapons, this new ability lets him split into multiple versions of himself to combat towering foes. It also helps explain how there are multiple Drews fighting the same boss during the game’s co-op campaign which features matchmaking and inviting friends.
At the very end of the teaser Hideki Kamiya says to look very closely. You can clearly see Drew splitting into various forms—maybe other Drews that inhabit parallel dimensions—and then coming back together. I’m not sure if the same dragon splits into various clones too but it looked like the dragons were unique and they could just be called by the other Drews. I’m willing to bet that more information about this ability will be revealed at Gamescom in a few months. I can’t wait to learn more and I know many PlatinumGames fans will be excited to learn this.
