Your Fallout 4 digital pre-order might need to be redownloaded

Bethesda has revealed that gamers who pre-downloaded the digital version of Fallout 4 will need to delete the installation file and redownload the entire 28 GB again. There are some caveats though, so you’ll need to follow some instructions to see what to do next, before the game launches on November 10.

On the company’s blog post, the developer said that only people who did not use the Xbox One’s instant-on feature would be affected.

“If you’ve digitally pre-ordered the game on Xbox One on or before 10/27 and are NOT using Instant On power mode, you may still have an incorrect ‘stub file’ for the title, which is simply a placeholder file. Players that have this particular version of the stub file will be required to delete it, and reinstall the title.”

To clarify, you don’t need to do anything if you did NOT pre-order the digital version of Fallout 4 before October 27, or you did but you DO use the instant-on feature. More information on how to uninstall the old version can be found in the original blog post.
