Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious out now on Xbox One

The Fast and Furious film series are ridiculous, over-the-top, car-focussed crime capers. They are also insanely good fun. I for one will admit that my secret shame is a love of the continuing adventures of Dominic Toretto and his crew.

If you are in the same boat, you may get a bit excited by the news that Turn 10 (makers of Forza Horizon 2, among others) have today released a standalone expansion for the latest Forza, entitled:

Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious

As the name suggests, this is a standalone expansion. In short, you don’t need the original game to be able to play it.
Those fans of the series out there with a more cynical bone may have noticed that it’s out just in time to help promote the movie sequel Furious 7. Well, stunningly, that’s no happy accident.

In fact the game is being launched specifically to help promote the upcoming 7th film instalment. As a result the expansion will be FREE from 27th March to April 10th. After that it will still be available, but will cost $10. No specific details have been given for the UK or Europe, but expect it to be around the same dates and to be £7-9 / 8-10 Euro.

The basis of the game sees you joining up with the character Tej Parker (voiced by Chris “Ludacris” Bridges who plays him in the films). You have to work with Parker to snag and deliver a range of vehicles for Dom, Brian and the crew by taking part in a series of Fast and Furious-inspired missions.

Those vehicles include Fast and Furious Editions of well-known cars, including Toretto’s iconic 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. The others so far confirmed are:
– 1970 Plymouth Road Runner
– 1970 Plymouth Barracuda
– 2012 Nissan GT-R
– 1998 Toyota Supra
– 2013 Jeep Wrangler
– 2014 Maserati Ghibli S
– 2015 Dodge Charger

Xbox boss Phil Spencer said:
“This is a great way to bring Forza players into the world of Fast and Furious, and in Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious, every fan will get a chance to go wheels-first into the exciting action of the Fast and Furious franchise.”

So while I think its safe to assume that this isn’t a huge title, it sounds like a lot of fun, and hopefully will provide cameos from a few familiar faces along the way. I intend to grab it while it’s free, and for that price its hard to go wrong.
