Final Fantasy 15 delayed until late November

Update: Square Enix confirmed the delay until November.

Square Enix’s upcoming JRPG Final Fantasy XV has been in development since 2006, ten years later and a name change from its original title of Final Fantasy Versus XIII and playable versions of FFXV are only available in a limited beta and its tech demo-esque Platinum Demo. Set to launch on September 30th, fans of the series are eagerly waiting to stick their claws into Final Fantasy XV but it seems that they may have to wait even longer.

A source from popular retail chain GameStop has told Gamnesia that Square Enix has delayed the game until November 29th and that promotional materials with the new release date have arrived at GameStop stores with specific instructions not to release them until after August 14th. If this is true we can expect a confirmation announcement tomorrow from Square Enix but until then we advise you to take this information with a grain of salt.

Fans have already been trying to discover whether the delay is a false rumor or not. MaruXV on Twitter reportedly found new promotional material in a GameStop—which he claims the store confirmed was just put up in store—that still has the current September 30th release date on the bottom of the promotion. If this is indeed an official delay—most probably for extra optimization—then we should find out soon.

Apparently a GameStop store put this out today. September 30th date listed. #FFXV (Thanks @PlaystationBrah) pic.twitter.com/vfDB5KrqmE
