Back in 2013 when all the drama with the Xbox One was going on there was one feature that was announced that really made me and my group of friends happy and that was game sharing. After all the changes that happened with the console, we ended up losing the bad features but we also lost many good features including game sharing. Recently Game Informer interviewed Mike Ybarra and asked him about it and he actually had quite a few things to say about it. He talked about Steam’s system being very good and that Microsoft is trying to find the perfect balance for the cross-play system they currently have but definitely want people to have more freedom with the system they do end up putting in place.
This is a feature that everyone would love but you also have to understand it through Microsoft’s eyes as they and the developers would lose a good bit of money if it is done in an unbalanced way. Having said that I also believe if done right it could result in a perfect balance where we don’t have to buy games more than once but the developers are also getting the money they deserve for making the game. It’s very impressive that at the end of the day Microsoft is still looking into ways to support both Xbox and PC gamers and I can’t wait to see the way the feature ends up getting implemented.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long.
