Many of you including myself were very excited to hear the news about the possibility of the new remastered gears of war collection, as a cheeky fan messaged Phil Spencer with a yes or no question, where he replied “I can’t announce that. But stay tuned.” Why he said that? I don’t know.
I’m sorry to be the one to break this to you if you don’t already know, but the producer to Black Tusk studios has spoken out, and said in short, it’s not happening. Which is a huge kick in the teeth, but he went into talking about some exciting gears projects that are planned, and we can expect to see during E3 in June.
So basically there is no chance of seeing a remastered version of the game most of us played the shit out of, and is there anything wrong with that? not really. I’m quite happy to see what they do next with the franchise and am always happy to play a new story in the Gears of war world, apart from maybe Judgement. Aint nobody got time for that.
Phil Spencer has commented on the next addition to the gears of war franchise and has said it’s not a reboot, but it aims to return to the franchises dark and gritty roots, which is possibly the best news i’ve heard in a while, if not ever.
If they make a Gears game like the first two, they are onto a winner as they had a perfect combination of dark and grittiness, which the third sort of lacked in slightly. So all in all, i’m happy they are still creating gears games and moving away from the remastered version, as the Halo master chief collection was a huge failure and I would be well pissed off if they did that to gears.
When they make the next instalment, there are a few things I would like them to add, one being bigger online maps with more players, creating large battles between the COGs and the Locusts with vehicles and other transport that creates a very real and deep online experience, which we have not experienced in the previous games, I would also like to see more in-depth customisation, as I would LOVE to create my own COG solider that looked how I wanted, these things will be very different from anything Gears have done before, but they would be so awesome…so please? I would also love to see a gritty and dark single player which they are already doing thank god, being underground and chainsawing your way out of huge worms are some of the best moments from the gears games, and adding co-op to the story makes it a million times more fun.
So what do you guys think? would you of liked to replay all of the previous games, or are you happy they are moving on and leaving what isn’t broken?
