CremaGames’ Guillermo Andrades says games on Xbox Scorpio will look better than PlayStation 4 Pro

It looks like developers will need to put more effort into optimizing their games for Project Scorpio. PlayStation 4 Pro games are just tweaked to increase the frame rate or resolution. In some cases some basic effects are added too. However, because there’s almost a 2 TFLOPS difference between PlayStation 4 Pro and Project Scorpio, the gap will require more development time. More advanced effects and features will need to be coded for some games on Project Scorpio that don’t utilize the Universal Windows Platform I imagine.

Guillermo Andrades, the Creative Director at CremaGames, currently working on Immortal Redneck, added to this. He said, “It all depends on the developers. Right now what we’re seeing with PlayStation 4 Pro is that most games are the same and the changes between the versions are really small (resolution, frame rate or more effects). If the power difference (between Project Scorpio and PlayStation 4 Pro) is really that huge, developers are going to need a lot of time and tweaking to take advantage of it.”

The power difference really is that huge between Project Scorpio and PlayStation 4 Pro. Microsoft confirmed that the console features 6 TFLOPS of GPU performance. I hope developers take the extra time to optimize for the upcoming console. Despite the extra work, it’s great to know that we’ll see much more advanced effects on Project Scorpio which we haven’t seen on PlayStation 4 Pro because most games are the same or have small changes on Sony’s console.
