In this edition of Meet The Gamer we chat with Lauran Carter. Lauran was the Social Media Coordinator at the now closed, but much loved, Lionhead Studios. In the interview, Lauran talks about her love of Pokémon and her wish to live in Albion.
What is your Gamertag and the reason for choosing it?
My Gamertag is SuperCoolCarter – it was an ironic nickname given to me by a friend that stuck, and now I’m very concerned that people think I’m making a genuine statement about myself with it, which I’m definitely not!
What is your favourite genre/s of game and why?
I don’t have a favourite genre, really! I play anything that takes my fancy, it doesn’t matter what classification it has been given.
What is your favourite game so far? (Doesn’t need to be an Xbox title!)
Pokémon! Pokémon is life! Red was always my favourite, but I really, really loved X & Y.
What is your most memorable gaming moment?
Completing Street Fighter with Chun Li as a child – I felt like I’d really achieved something!
Which achievement has been the most frustrating to obtain? How long did it take you?
Oh no…I’m not much of an achievement hunter! It really doesn’t bother me at all. However, if you are an achievement hunter you should totally get Fable Anniversary and check out the incredibly named achievements on there – Ted Timmins is a genius 😉
What is your gamerscore and how long has it taken you to get it?
Awwh man…this is so sad…it’s 795 🙁 I only have an Xbox because of working at Lionhead, and of course playing a million games of Legends won’t have any effect on your gamerscore. Prior to my time at Lionhead I was much more of a PS/Anything Nintendo/PC kinda gal 🙂
What is your gaming guilty pleasure?
I don’t know if it does count as a guilty pleasure, because I know a lot of grown adults that love it too, but I could spend my life going through the motions in Animal Crossing. It’s such an excellent distraction from life, whilst also being a life simulator 😛
If you could pick a video game character, who would you be and why?
It would have to be Jill Valentine! I must have been about 14 when I first saw her kicking ass in Resident Evil and it had a HUGE impact on me. Jill, accompanied by Chun Li, could have been the catalyst that lead me to where I am now. I love how she remained fearless no matter what I was hiding behind whilst playing Nemesis.
If you could pick a location, from any game, to visit, where would it be and why?
Of course I’m going to say Fable Legends’ Albion! It was so lush and green and magical. I could quite easily see myself settling down in Brightlodge and venturing out into the magical forests…
Finally, where do you see gaming heading in the next decade?
Of course there’ll be an increased adaptation of VR, there’ll be more online only games and mobile games…but I do hope we manage to keep the traditional medium that we’ve all grown up knowing and loving.
Special thanks to Lauran Carter for taking the time to answer our questions. Keep an eye on the website and Twitter for information on how you can feature in the next Meet The Gamer.
