Microsoft showcases exclusives during Tokyo press event, temporarily lowers price of Xbox One in Japan to boost sales

Microsoft missed the Tokyo Game Show this year but it held its own press conference today. During the event, the company outlined its strategy for the holidays. The company showed off various exclusives coming to the console as well as titles designed for the Japanese market.

The company showed off various indie titles that include Kyub by Ninja Egg which is coming to Xbox One in 2016. The games look like fun casual yet quirky experiences that should appeal to Japanese consumers.

Microsoft also announced that the Xbox One Elite bundle will release on November 6 in the country. They also announced a temporary ¥5,000 price drop for the Xbox One in Japan. The drop will go into effect starting October 1 and expire December 31.

The new strategy seems to revolve around lowering the price and giving consumers more casual experiences on the console. Considering that mobile gaming dominates the field in Japan, let’s see if this strategy works.
