Microsoft might be revamping its headquarters, could include on-campus restaurants and apartments

Microsoft’s campus is about thirteen miles outside Seattle, and the overhaul would create more room for workers to collaborate, instead of using private offices that currently take over most of the space inside the buildings. The company has hired Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, a large architectural firm, for the large and costly project. But the decision to proceed with the project has yet to be decided.

Microsoft’s headquarters have resided in Redmond, Washington since the mid-1980s, and they own most of the property in the area. Currently, Microsoft’s headquarters houses nearly 80 buildings spread throughout a 500-acre stretch of land. The new campus plans have the potential to include restaurants, retail spaces, public artwork, and apartments aimed at housing interns and visiting employees.
