Xbox Scorpio may use separate interface from Xbox One

It looks like Project Scorpio is getting its own interface which will take advantage of the 6 TFLOPS of power. We initially suspected that Project Scorpio would use the same interface as the Xbox One but now it seems like it will be optimized further. I imagine the animations and overlays will be fancier.

According to a report by Windows Central, a Microsoft Software Design engineer said, “I’m currently prototyping Xbox Scorpio Motion Design language, which is targeting holiday 2017. What are we going to do with 6 TFLOPS of graphical processing power? Find out next year on Christmas morning.” It’s clear from this that Project Scorpio will take advantage of the extra processing power to deliver a superior interface to what we currently have. I’m glad they’re doing this because the current interface is laggy and slow. It’s also quite bland.

While I haven’t seen any examples of Microsoft’s Motion Design language, I imagine there will be more transparency, smoother animations and a much more responsive system in general. You should expect all the same features that the Xbox One currently has but the menus and animations will just look better and smoother. I hope this prototype makes it way to Xbox Scorpio because I want the console to take advantage of 6 TFLOPS even in its menus.
