Phil Spencer always drops a multitude of hints about Microsoft’s upcoming plans for the Xbox One on Twitter. Today, he shared something very interesting. When asked if original Xbox games would ever be backwards compatible with Xbox One given that Xbox 360 games use an emulator, he replied that he asks the team the same question often. He hinted that the feature was in the pipeline and that the Xbox 360 emulation would have to be perfected before the team moved on to tackle that technical challenge.
@HadleeSimons I don’t think it’s silly. I ask the BC team this question a lot. Need to finish 360 BC for now.

I really hope they bring original Xbox titles to Xbox One. Not only would it make the Xbox One the ultimate console but it would also enable us to revisit some classics like Shenmue 2. I wouldn’t mind this announcement being a surprise for another E3 conference in a few years.
