Psychonauts 2 raises over $2 million through crowdfunding campaign

Update: It’s passed $2 million already.

Psychonauts 2 has raised over $1 million in under 24 hours, developers Double-fine have revealed (much to their joy!)

This new announcement comes thanks to the new crowdfunding website, FIG. Fig operates differently to Kickstarter, with money donated for invested allowing any potential investors to earn money at the end of the development period. Whilst Kickstarter is successful enough in it’s own right. Fig offers an alternative.

Double-Fine have had $1.2 million raised so far, with 8714 backers (numbers correct at time of writing.) and looks set to smash through their target of $3.3 million before their deadline of January 7. It is worth noting that the $3.3 million does not come close to the prjected financial requirements for this game, which is coming in as $10 million and more! Double fine is putting up a “significant portion” of the fund as well as another unknown backer.
