Rare Replay and Sea of Thieves were announced by the legendary studio during Microsoft’s press briefing yesterday. Rare Replay revives 30 classic games from their most beloved series. The collection launches on Xbox One on August 4 for only $29.99 and comes with…wait for it…10,000 gamerscore. Yes, that’s not a mistake. It comes with an incredible 10,000 gamerscore.
Rare’s roots go all the way back to 1985 when it formed to make games for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Rare is also the developer behind GoldenEye 007 and Banjo-Kazooie. Over the past few years, the company was behind Microsoft’s Kinect push. While this gave us a multitude of refined Kinect titles like Sports Rivals on Xbox One, it made us long for the next epic experience from the studio.
Sea of Thieves came as a welcome surprise at the conference. This Xbox One exclusive is a shared-world pirate adventure where you fight one another and embark on a quest to find legendary treasure. While not much is known about the title, the graphical style is definitely a sight to behold. We can’t wait to learn more about this open world pirate experience.
