Consumers prefer the Xbox One primarily due to its brand, features, and exclusives

Nielsen, the global information and measurement company, recently conducted a survey of next-generation console owners to determine why they bought their devices. While individuals who bought a PlayStation 4 stated reasons like resolution, Blu-ray player, and what their family wanted, Xbox One owners’ responses were notable. Most gamers who bought Microsoft’s device picked it due to the console’s reputation for stable multiplayer, innovative features, exclusive games, and fun-factor.

Xbox Live has always been an important aspect of Microsoft’s console and continues to be a major factor when it comes to attracting customers. The company offers the most advanced multiplayer experience and this plays an important role in influencing customers. Apart from that, Microsoft also owns popular franchises like Halo and Gears of War. The combination of these two make the Xbox One an attractive choice for gamers and strengthens the brand as a whole.

Microsoft updates their new console every month and the machine has change a lot since it was released more than a year ago. Many features have been added like custom backgrounds, universal media player, enhanced social networking, and screenshots. The device also launched with the ability to snap programs to the side of the screen and do two tasks at once. These are clearly important to consumers because they empower them to use the Xbox One how they see fit.

Microsoft has also partnered with many companies to bring new and exciting applications to the console. Programs like ABC News, HBO Go, Go Pro Channel, Machinima, The Scene, Nerdist, Pandora, and Vine are currently exclusive to the Xbox One. Apart from that, Microsoft has promised that universal applications will come to the Xbox One when Windows 10 releases so expect even more exclusive experiences to make their way onto the platform.

As alluded to earlier, exclusives are what attract consumers and Microsoft has a considerable amount of them. Games like Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Motorsport 6, Forza Horizon 2, Quantum Break, Fable Legends, Killer Instinct, Halo 5: Guardians, and Rise of the Tomb Raider are major titles that are only available on the Xbox One. For gamers, this is the real reason they prefer one machine to the other. Microsoft has a clear advantage here. Exclusives also increase the fun-factor of the console and peripherals like the new Kinect sensor only enhance this.

Microsoft should be proud of the fact that gamers choose Xbox for meaningful reasons. Factors like multiplayer reputation, innovative features, exclusive games, and fun-factor are very important for any gaming division and the company is on the right path. We hope that Microsoft keeps on innovating and that we see more amazing experiences in our living rooms in the future.
