State of Decay 2 aims for better immersion with dynamic survivors

Microsoft’s exclusive open-world zombie game, State of Decay 2, has some interesting technology behind its many survivors. As players of the original are aware, the open world is full of interesting people, many of which you will have the opportunity to play as.

In the sequel, Undead Labs will be using a feature they have named “Photochop”. Survivors that you interact with will be generated on-the-fly from pre-made faces, clothes and even personalities. In order to increase the amount of immersion players feel, the survivors they encounter will be found wearing mostly civilian clothes and their faces are modelled after developers, members of the community as well as friends and family members of Undead Labs.

All of this is available to read on Undead Labs’ constantly updated blog. For more news on State of Decay’s development and, hopefully, future gameplay, check in with us in the future.
