Steam suffers massive security leak, gives users access to other accounts

Steam’s massive winter sale is going on right now and probably millions of people are browsing the deals and buying the games. However, all is not well in the realm of Steam. Some users seem to have come across a severe security breach in the system. Gamers on Twitter, Facebook, NeoGAF, and Reddit have noticed that they can see other users’ account information—including addresses and credit card information—instead of their own.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha this is amazing https://t.co/xhmjFQQ7yg

There really isn’t a pattern to these security leaks. Some people are reporting it while others have no idea it’s even happening. We’ve reached out to Valve for comment. Valve hasn’t issued any statements about the security leak, but a moderator on Reddit claims that the company is “working on it as we speak.” This is definitely troubling news for the millions of Steam gamers out there. I hope they can resolve this breach and provide everyone with an explanation. Just to be safe we recommending removing your credit card and address from Steam until we know more.
